HDO recently completed work on India's largest Greenfield Alumina Refinery of capacity 1.4 MTPA for Vedanta Alumina Ltd. at Lanjigarh, Orissa. The project included Settler and Washer, Milk of Lime and Hydrate Seed Thickener Packages on turnkey basis. For the first time in India, HDO used the Deep Cone Settling technology in any Alumina Refinery resulting in lower reversion losses and better Alumina recovery for the refinery.

Uranium: HDO has made major contribution in the area of uranium ore processing and has been associated with Uranium Corporation of India Ltd. from the very beginning. We supplied equipment to their first plant at Jaduguda. We later provided the complete process engineering and some major equipment for the 3000 TPD Greenfield mill at Turramdih, Jharkhand.

More recently, we bagged the prestigious order for setting up the complete uranium processing plant of capacity 3000 TPD at Tummalapalle in Andhra Pradesh. The project is slated for completion in December 2010.

These types of systems require different material grades and particle sizes. In blast furnaces the feed is normally +10mm and ‘lump’ material. This is in contrast to sinter plants where the feed is usually -10mm and pelletisation generally requires complete crushing to below 500 micron or 0.5mm. In each of these processes the requirement is to achieve a high FE grade value and low values for unwanted contaminants within the feed material.

We have supplied various EPC packages like Settler-Washer Package, Evaporation Package, Fume Treatment Plants, Milk of Lime Package, Mud Disposal System, Security Filtration, Hydrate Seed Thickeners, Sand Washing Plants, Causticizing and Olalate Removal System and Horizontal Belt, Pan and Disc Filter systems.
